Exclusive Premiere: Grateful Dead Movie Trailer
Watch Trailer for Upcoming Grateful Dead Movie: Exclusive Premiere
by Jeff Giles April 8, 2015 2:04 PM The Grateful Dead aren’t just coming to Chicago for some special 50th anniversary concerts this summer — they may also be headed for a theater near you. The band won’t be traveling to your local cineplex live and in person, but thanks to Fathom Events, they will be “playing” as part of the fifth annual Grateful Dead Meet-Up, scheduled for May 4 at more than 400 select theaters around the United States. You can watch the trailer — which is an exclusive premiere — above. Those in attendance will be treated to a viewing of footage from a previously unreleased show recorded on July 19, 1989, at Alpine Valley in East Troy, Wis. Promising to present the band in “a peak era of energy and chemistry onstage,” the experience offers Dead fans an opportunity “to reconnect as well as a chance for new fans or those curious about the scene to experience the euphoria of seeing the Grateful Dead live.” It also has the added bonus of being nowhere near as expensive as seeing the actual surviving members of the band play at the 50th anniversary concerts, which are being billed as the Dead’s farewell. Demand for tickets has been strong since the shows were announced, and they’re fetching incredible prices (not to mention inspiring absurd schemes) on the secondary market. There’s reportedly a chance that the 2015 edition of the Dead may schedule some extra shows in the Bay Area before calling it quits for real, but if you don’t want to take your chances — or if you just want to sit in the dark with some fellow Deadheads — check the Fathom Events website for a complete list of participating theaters. I almost went to a day at the movies thing last year, but didn't. Maybe this year I'll go, make it a "Grateful Dead" year for me. I bought tickets to a San Francisco Giants game for Dead Night recently. They did! I just signed up to try to purchase tickets. So excited! I hope I'm picked!

I knew there were Grateful Dead's fans that would have been interested here...
Grateful Dead Announce Two More Reunion Shows, ‘But This Is It’ by Nick DeRiso April 10, 2015 3:56 PM The Grateful Dead have added two additional reunion shows amid a frenzy of interest. Surviving members Mickey Hart, Bill Kreutzmann, Phil Lesh and Bob Weir have added June 27-28 at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, Calif., to their itinerary. Those shows precede a trio of instantly sold-out appearances to be held July 3-5 at Soldier Field in Chicago, site of the Grateful Dead’s final stop with Jerry Garcia on July 9, 1995. The group has said these 2015 concerts, which they’ve called Fare Thee Well: Celebrating 50 Years of Grateful Dead, will be their last ever. “None of us anticipated the overwhelming outpouring of love and interest following our initial announcement of the shows at Soldier Field, and we were blown away by the response,” the Grateful Dead said in an official statement. “We will not be adding any more Fare Thee Well performances. The three Chicago shows will still be our final stand. We decided to add these two Santa Clara shows to enable more of our fans to celebrate with us one more time. But this is it.” The remaining quartet will be joined in Chicago and Santa Clara by Trey Anastasio of Phish on guitar, and Jeff Chementi and Bruce Hornsby on keyboards. Hornsby served a similar role in the Dead toward the end of Garcia’s life, playing more than 100 shows with the band between 1988-95. As is their custom, the Grateful Dead are trying – with varying degrees of success – to eliminate secondary-market scalpers by offering their own online ticketing for the Levi’s shows through Dead50.net. They say 65,000 tickets will be available each night for the California concerts. As for those who can’t make it? “We are working on ways for you to still experience our Fare Thee Well, from wherever you might be,” the band says. “Stay tuned for those details.” Read More: Grateful Dead Announce Two More Reunion Shows, 'But This Is It' | http://ultimateclassicrock.com/grate...ckback=tsmclip |
