Something I've always wondered, but of course would never actually ask, is to which degree the back up singers in the first half of the 80s (Lori, Sharon, and Eliscia I beleive) participated in Stevie's drug use. I mean, I get the impression Stevie was good friends with them (or at least Lori and Sharon), and I imagine Stevie would be doing lines in her dressing room before the concerts (and after the concerts, and probably during the concerts, and just about everywhere else) but did the back up singers just pretend not to notice? I doubt it.

And then after Stevie went to rehab, did they all stop doing it too?

Not only backup singers, but assistants, makeup, her band, all the crew. Specially those close to her with access to the dressing room.

It's a fair question anyway, since some things should have been corrected long before. But I agree you may better don't ask

I remember that at one point how very, very thin a certain back-up singer (who shall remain nameless to protect the guilty) got. I really thought at one point she might be aneroxic (I was too naiive to suspect the cocaine diet).

She still is. I saw her in Detroit and honestly, I was afraid for her health.

She is quite thin, but I assume nowdays it has a lot to do with her thyroid. Her eyes slightly bulging is a classic sign of hyperthyroidism, which speeds up the metabolism greatly. It can be controlled with meds, but some people are harder to treat than others.

It's been a few years since I've seen her in person but from photos she looked at least a little heavier to me (still rail thin though). I hadn't thought about the thyroid thing--that's a good guess actually!
