Farrah Fawcett -- Cancer Free

LOS ANGELES, California (AP) -- Farrah Fawcett got an unbeatable gift for her 60th birthday: a clean bill of health.

The actress, who revealed in October that she was fighting cancer, learned this week that she is cancer-free, spokesman Mike Pingel said Friday.

Dr. Gary Gitnick, Fawcett's lead physician at the University of California, Los Angeles, said the actress "has had a full and complete response to treatment."

"Her prognosis is excellent," he said.

The former "Charlie's Angel" star said she was "deeply grateful" to her doctors and her family and friends "who have sustained me as I battled this terrible disease."

"This is an extraordinarily happy day for me and my family," she said in a statement. "I hope that my news might offer some level of inspiration to others who unfortunately must continue to fight the disease."

Fawcett planned to celebrate her birthday Friday with family and friends, Pingel said, and expects to return to work "in the next month or two."

Fawcett did not disclose the kind of cancer she was treated for. Her ex, Ryan O'Neal, told People magazine she was being treated for anal cancer.

It was reported that she was agressive with the treatments and had a tough time with that (as anyone probably would) so this is very good news she has had a positive outcome.

Thank God,Farrah will be ok,I wish I could say that about my sister, she has been fighting breast cancer for 18 years.

That is a very long time. I don't know what to write, other than I am sorry your sister has cancer. You must be very proud that she is such an incredibly strong woman. If I may, what is your sister's name?

Ya thanks. She's taking it day by day at age 55.she's still working a full time job on top of it.I'm very proud.Thank god she still here.

So relieved that Ryan was just arrested for assaulting his son. I don't think it's his kid with Farrah, though. It's Griffin, the one who's had drug & alcohol problems over the years.

zing! Truly though, Griffin was swinging a fireplace poker around, which actually hit his (pregnant?) girlfriend in the face. Something had to be done with him, although I don't think shooting a gun in his direction was the right choice. Either way...wow what a mess.

I hadn't heard the whole story earlier, but I assumed that Griffin was actually at fault. They guy's always been a mess, a loose cannon. That's a shame.

Anal Cancer? Is there even such a thing? Maybe he meant colon cancer. Glad she's okay. Hope it lasts.
