SYW sales in Canada

Got this from Canoe:

Fleetwood Mac also made a foray into the top 10 with their first studio album in 15 years. "Say You Will" entered the charts in eighth with 8,600 in sales.

Not too shabby for up here!

I guess no one buys CD's up in Canada, if they got into the top 10 on 8,600 copies. Or is that supposed to say 86,000

Nope. Canada has roughly 30 million citizens, so record sales are different.

Up here, gold means 50 000, platinum is 100 000, and diamond is 1 million.

Arent canadian CD prices very very high too?

I heard somewhere that alot of canadians buy there CDs from the states and just cross the border, or would you say that was a load of old guff?

I don't know about the rest of Canada, but in Vancouver I bought SYW for C$15.49 or the equivalent of about US$10.00. I always find CDs to be much cheaper here than in the U.S.

I think it depends. CD's are expensive in my town, but there's only one music store with virtually no competition. I bought the LE SYW for $60 [with taxes], and the regular version was $16.99 [plus taxes it would be close to $20].

I know I've paid upwards of about $30 for a single disc. It blows the big one!

DANG!!! I could have gotten BOTH for you for like 30 bucks, then shipped them to you!! They are (well, were...don't know about right now) $9.99 for the regular and $19.99 for the LE at Best Buy!! 60 bucks!!! GEEZ!!!! That's ridiculous!!!
