that's true. that's not really healthy, though...i'm sure he wants to appear strong for Molly but it would be nice to have at least one person to cry a bit to. hopefully mick would possibly be that person now, although they live so far apart.

I kind of hope John spends time in Hawaii with Mick. Not that I want anything to come of it, but they’ve been friends for at least 60 years and closely tied for most of it. Maybe they jam, maybe they don’t, although I think it would help if they did. Ultimately, it’s a weird time in both their lives and they’ve gotten through a lot of dark times together.

The great tragedy of getting older is that those around you start to fall away; sporadically perhaps at first, and then it becomes something you see and feel more keenly. I always think back to Philip Larkin: “What will survive of us is love”. God bless John and everyone who has lost someone.

I like the Larkin quote…
I lost my husband nearly two years ago and that is so apt…
I’m sure John will be looked after, he has family and Mick is a good friend.

He's lost his two dearest friends in the world, sold his basses and is done w the band, sold his boat, crappy health, alone now in that huge house...at least he lives close to his daughter but still...he's lost a lot in a short time. I hope he doesn't start falling down a hole psychologically....

Yea, my heart goes out to John. Just empathy and respect for his situation.

Sorry to read that, Sue. You find ways to start to cope with the absence, don’t you. I hope he manages too.

Where is Stevie when you need her. She was clutching John's hand during that trainwreck interview to launch the 2018 tour. (Until, as I recall, John managed to extract his hand from her grasp.)

Maybe a leisurely life of Netflix, naps, and the odd natter with Mick and others is all John needs and deserves after his long tour of duty in music and sailing.

Sue, you've been my Ledge buddy a long time. I'm really sending you love vibes across the ocean. I'm glad you are living your life in peace despite a great loss like that. Teaches the rest of us to be brave.
