Default Fleetwood Mac Live

How come nobody (except me?) has praised the saints that today is the 25th anniversary of the release of "Fleetwood Mac Live"?

I remember the night before its release I was so excited to finally hear what they sounded like in concert. I couldn't image how a band with only four instruments could replicate the layered, carefully crafted music that I obsessed over. That night I stayed up late (midnight was late for me when I was barely out of middle school.) A local radio station played the entire album. I was transfixed. The live songs didn't just like the studio versions, but they just as good, only different.

I still love that album -even now having the awarenes that they did polish it up a bit in the studio. It still has a rock and roll grit that The Dance lacks. All the new/rare stuff was great! Fireflies, One More Night, Oh Well, Farmer's Daughter and Don't Let Me Down Again.

Oh Well got a lot of radio air play in Massachusetts. Fleetwood Mac was my secret love for a long time, because they were seen by many as being very MOR wimpy compared to the obvious hard rockers of that time. I relished in the fact that Oh Well opened the eyes of many friends who payed no attention to them. "What? That's Fleetwood Mac?" was a typical reaction.

David - my memories of me and my high school girlfriend and her parents smoking Mary Jane to this are vivid if not lambent - thank you for reminding me!!!!! Her voice on Landslide is haunting to say the least.

I do have the big love for this album. Nothing much to say about it other than it's one of my favorite albums by them. The cover rocks and it's a gorgeous gatefold LP. I listen to this frequently.

I tracked a vinyl copy of this down a few months ago at record store called 'Hot Wax'

I sat and listened to it the next day and was blown away. Unfortunately, my record player is dead so I haven't been able to listen to it since. Oh well...I think I'm getting a new one for Christmas.

I love the versions of Sara and Over & Over especially although the whole thing rocks.

I always wondered (as a kid) why Tusk wasn't on this. Then I heard Tusk live and understood.

I love Monday Morning (the album used to punch my speakers so well)
Say You Love Me
Dreams (nice raw stripped down vocals) the way it should be
Rhiannon (wow what a great take, she blows me away on this one)
Not That Funny (awesome)
I'm So Afraid (blockbuster performance of organ, bass drums, and incredible guitar solo)

the only way to listen to this album is LOUD

I don't like Sara (zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz) lacks backing vocals and sort of drags along.

The actual St. Louis (?) bootleg is better than what ends up on the LIVE album b/c it's not edited. The guitar is gorgeous. But you still might not like it since you think it drags on. That's okay. I think I've made it clear how obsessed I am with this song.
