Default Another Link In The Chain

Hi,

I have just watched the 'Another Link In The Chain' tv /dvd special filmed in Switzerland.

Very interesting indeed.

I thought that Mick, John,Billy & Becka were great and having a great time.
But omg Dave Mason- why was he even there????

Was this filmed before 'Time' was released?

What a shame Rick wasnt in the band

I dont think this was a bad line up,and could of grown better with time.

What do other people think?

Julian

I kind of liked this lineup -- I saw them live in 1994 & again in 1995 in Clear Lake -- but I felt the way you did about Mason. I got the feeling that he didn't give a damn about playing the Fleetwood Mac catalog, particularly songs like THE CHAIN, SAY YOU LOVE ME, & GO YOUR OWN WAY. At Konocti, he was just barely there in terms of energy level & commitment to the proceedings. The only song he seemed interested in performing was -- surprise -- WE JUST DISAGREE (which was lusciously arranged for synthesizer, piano, & acoustic guitars -- no drums).

They did all these shows before TIME was released. I don't think they actually played a concert after the album was released, which was odd.

Hi Julian
Never saw this video, but I thought Billy and Bekka sounded good on the "Time" CD, although as a whole, that CD didn't really thrill me. Not great, but not horrible, might be a good way to explain my feelings about it.

For me, the Dave Mason material wasn't all that great. I don't know that the "Time" line up was ever going to last. It just didn't seem to have the chemistry, at least to me.

It was a great shame to many of us when Rick left the band. It was really too bad that the "Behind The Mask" line up did not go farther than it did. They sounded great both live and on the CD and both Rick and Billy did a great job in a difficult situation when they joined FM. Not everyone agrees with that, but it's just my opinion.

Was this the same tour where they played with REO Speedwagon and Pat Benatar?

They played Great America theme park during that time but I don't recall if it was before or after "Time" was released. I didn't go to the show either. Didn't care to sit through REO Speedwagon or Benatar so I skipped it.

Oh no!! Not again!! Have I gone and said I didn't like something you love?

I've grown to like Pat Benatar since then. I will say that. (Probably something to do with my dear wife being a fan of hers.) Have never been much for REO Speedwagon though. Nothing wrong with it I guess, but just never "grabbed" me.

But, if you have any recommendations for the "wagon", I'm open.

Well there was the little matter of a certain Mr D Walker ;-)

Actually I've never really heard anything that I can recall as being by REO Speedwagon. My comment was more aimed at the anti-Benatar sentiment :-)

To my knowledge, they did exactly one show after the album came out. It was Wednesday, November 15 at 9:30 PM in the MGM Grand Terrace Garden as part of COMDEX. Specifically, their show was sponsored by a company called WitchDesk and Debra von Trapp (Trapp/Technologies). I think that was it for that version of Fleetwood Mac.

Ok, a PRIVATE, CORPORATE show, maybe...but there were no "on sale to the public" performances after Time was released.

Absolutely nothing. Don't worry, it was just relating to something that Sjpdg and I discussed previously.
