Default Thoughts and Question about the Livein Boston CD

I've been in a Say You Will phase for the last few days. The CD included with the Live in Boston DVD is really frustrating for me. Here's why:

This collection could have been a great addition to their other live albums, 1980's Live and and 1997's The Dance. yet they gave us mostly a monotonous rehash. Of the miserly nine songs, five of them already appeared on both previous live albums, and two were on The Dance. Also, only one song from Say You Will was included.

To keep things fresh I wish they would have showcased mostly songs that were not on either live album. What is the incentive for them to be so repetitive with such a small group of songs? Is it a financial reason? Do they get a higher return on royalties with more higher profile songs?

The standard reasoning that casual fans are only looking to hear the songs they know most doesn't hold water. This CD/DVD package was not being bought by casual fans looking for only for the hits (their several greatest hits compilations serve that purpose well.) This was a release bought by die-hard fans. So who and why did they decide on this poor selection of songs? It could have been so much better:

1. Second Hand News
2. Gypsy
3. What's the World Coming To
4. Say You Will
5. Peacekeeper
6. Beautiful Child
7. Eyes of the World
8. Gold Dust Woman
9. Say Goodbye
10. Come
11. Goodbye Baby

agree, frustrating to me too. i have the CD in my car and LOVE listening to LiB version of EOTW (luckily it's the first song so don't have to look for it!), but after that i just skip the rest of the CD.

Totally agree with you. Casually, I was watching the DVD with my sister, and
we found the same thing: the CD is maybe incomplete, or is just not enough for us.
I think Gypsy and Gold Dust Woman must be, because they were maybe the big absents in The Dance CD. Let me put in your playlist only two songs: The chain (only as an intro) and I'm So Afraid, one that I think can't be absent!
Thanks and regards!!

I totally agree, especially with your list of songs that could have been included. This could have been so much better. I do love the "Stand Back" version they included though. That percussion solo at the beginning is outstanding. "Eyes Of The World" is a great one too and "Come" live really rocks. The rest of the tracks though are just rehashes that we've heard a million times. A missed opportunity to 'throw a bone' to the die-hard fans to be sure.
